model is to of course improve coordination as well as delivery of healthcare along lines that are both affordable and efficient.\u00a0 In other words, it is to bring sophisticated treatments within the reach of the common man.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Important Elements of an ACO<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">The three distinguishing features of an ACO are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">1.\u00a0 Continuity of care across varied institutional setups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">2.\u00a0 The ability to forecast costs and resource requirements and budgeting of the same.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">3.\u00a0 \u00a0To reliably measure performance across the entire organization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Now there is a single technology tool that acts as a common denominator for all of the above, the EHR.\u00a0 The EHR is an enterprise version cousin of the EMR, but which in addition to the former\u2019s medical record keeping abilities incorporates other state-of-the art functionalities like patient registries, e-pharmacy, clinical decision support system, in-built practice management system etc among others.<\/p>\n<p>But any EHR would not do.\u00a0 To grab those <em>Meaningful Use<\/em> dollars the <a title=\"EHR\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billingparadise.com\/emr-ehr-support\/\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">EHR<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a> most likely needs to be CCHIT certified, multi-interfacing, more ACO features than the simple patient portal, be <a title=\"ICD-10\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billingparadise.com\/ICD-10-ready.html\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">ICD-10<\/span><\/strong> <\/span><\/a>and 5010 ready, and have minimal rollout gap.<\/p>\n<p>Even if your organization has homed in on such an EHR, you would in all likelihood require a third party technical support, besides the EHR vendor support system to really have that rollout gap under tight control.\u00a0 Else you might end up paying a
