Healthcare delivery is changing for the better, and is progressing through a series of sequential or concomitant milestones.  We have written about each of these milestones in this blog here, in some detail, in the past.  However, it requires a unique meeting of healthcare minds, like at Unbound, which will be into its 10th chapter this year, on July 11 and 12th at Aurora, Colorado, to bring many of these motley lines of thoughts into perspective.  As an aside though Healthcare Unbound, essentially has been focusing on “technology in, on and around the body that frees care from formal institutions.”

Is F4S Already a Mammoth ??

We have been hearing about the imminent demise of the Fee-for-Service Model for some time now, we had even dedicated a couple of blog posts to this, but in the words of Mark Blatt, MD, Director of Intel Health, this is already a mammoth, consumed by the latest Ice Age of healthcare churning, this is like a 30-day eviction notice…and it’s happening faster than anyone thinks.”   One can reasonably assume this is no exaggeration, as a new survey in Health Leaders reveals that nearly 40% of the providers now believe that F4S will be defunct in 3 years.  Collaborative care and better care for less are the mantras that are now doing the clinical rounds.  There is now even CPT codes for coordination of care concepts.  To quote Dr. Blatt again, We’re moving fast…they’re willing to pay for non face-to-face services. They’re not going to pay you for production, they’re going to pay you for coordination.”

F4S fallout will be one of the important topics debated at Healthcare Unbound this year.  The other is new perspectives on remote monitoring & telehealth.  This of course is to minimize the penalties incurred due to 30-day readmission.

5 Reasons Why Clinics- Medical Billing Vendors Should Attend Unbound

1.  The first reason is of course what Unbound stands for, as the above definition denotes.  Engaging the patient is a mandatory skill healthcare providers would be expected to exhibit, to reduce unnecessary readmission, and thus reduce cost of healthcare.  Unbound is a right step in that direction to help cultivate that skill.

 2.  To learn about the latest technologies in the mobile/tele-medicine sector.

 3.  To learn more about the CMS “blue button”.

 4. To learn in depth about HIE or Health Information Exchanges, the primary technology that enables Accountable Care Organizations and how such omnipresent connectivity could help us understand healthcare perspectives better at a fundamental level.

 5.  Last, but not the least, Ignite presentations on healthcare topics.  As is well-know the Ignite lectures deliver information in a jiffy to time-strapped audiences in an accelerated format.  5 minutes for each topic with 20 slides, with each slide set on auto to change every 15 seconds.  It will really be exciting to see how this format pans out in the very important healthcare segment.
